Passwords can be forgotten through lack of use or from auto generated changes. Or they can simply cease to work for no apparent reason. This may prohibit the user from using the computer, but in other cases it may require thousands of password protected files to be deleted if the overriding password can not be determined. Where special encryption has also been involved, the task becomes even more difficult.
